Rob Spadaccini has been elected the 55th president of the Master Builders Association for 2016. He takes over from John Ripp, who was president for the past two years. The president is the head of the Master Builders Association and is elected each year by its board of management, comprising of 12 builders.
Rob is the managing director of Spadacinni Homes and a director of New Choice Homes and Elevation Homes WA. The registered builder started Spadaccini Homes 19 years ago. Since then he has developed an enviable reputation within the housing industry. His attention to detail, innovativeness and consistency in winning Housing Excellence Awards is highly regarded.
The president chairs monthly board meetings, represents the association at functions, attends important meetings with politicians, bureaucrats and members, and liaises closely with senior staff in relation to operational matters.
Master Builders Association was formed in 1898 primarily as a builders’ organisation and has evolved a lot since then to represent the interests of its members in their dealings with governments, statutory authorities, unions and the general public. As a membership based organisation, Master Builders relies on representative groups of committed members, primarily builders, to guide its direction. These groups form committees and meet regularly, including in major regional centres, to discuss topical issues that are relevant to the industry. Most of the nearly 2000 Master Builders members in WA specialise in the residential sector – from luxury residences to first homes and modular dwellings.
“Being elected president of such a prestigious industry organisation like Master Builders is such a great honour,” Rob says.
“I’m very much looking forward to the challenge, and in helping to make the building and construction industry a better, safer and more prosperous place in which to work.”
“One of my major objectives will be to make the planning approvals process more streamlined and more efficient, I believe this would benefit everyone involved in the process.”
On an industry level, the top priorities are to reform housing indemnity insurance, improve housing affordability, maintain industrial relations stability and minimise additional red tape in carrying out business.
“With a federal election later this year, Master Builders will be busy advocating our policy priorities to all political parties for the betterment of the building industry.” Rob says.
